There is a world inside us that can only be accessed through writing.

Talking is important. But there is a portion of thoughts that is very hard to accessed through normal conversations.

Nobel Prize Winner Daniel Kahneman described two system of thinking:

  • System 1: fast and automatic
  • System 2: slow and deliberate

Popular ways of communication (talking and texting) uses fast, real-time, and often reactive thinking. As a result, parts of our inner world is cut of from each other. And we often miss the full richness of another person’s mind, while failing to fully convey ours.

A shared journal allows two people to engage in a slow conversation. The exchange of ideas unfolds over days or weeks, allowing us to explore our thoughts and capture complicate feelings. It reveals parts of us that we weren’t aware off, and helps us access our partner on a profound level.
